Art in the City

SAFFCA would like to thank Strauss&Co, their clients and guests as well as everyone at August House and The Workshorse for allowing us to share our passion through a stimulating morning. The true interest exhibited by most on the day demands our gratitude.

Furthermore we would like to extend a very special thank and express loud gratitude to the artists working from August House for the kindness and generosity with which they welcomed us all in the closeness of their studio, the tabernacle of their creativity: Diane Victor, Mary Sibande, Benon Lutaaya, Themba Khumalo, Bambo Sibiya, Lehlognolo Mashaba, Mbongeni Fakudze, Jake Singer, Setlamorago Mashilo, Kamogelo Masemolak,Robyn Field, Layziehound Coka, Andrew Kayser, Toni-Ann Ballenden, Odette Michelle Graskie and any others that we might have missed out.

Furthermore we specifically thank Louis Oliver, Rina Otto and the entire team the Workhorse Bronze Foundry who went the extra mile not only through art but also through your hospitality, which cemented the base for a glorious day. Louis, you were even kind enough to share with us alchemy in the Foundry

The same applies to David, Kate and their team at August House who allowed us to get so close to a portion of the depth, wealth and diversity of the Southern African Contemporary Art in the making. This allowed us at SAFFCA to link two important key players of the Art Industry by establishing a shortcut from the Auction room back to the studio for the time of a memorable morning.

Finally, SAFFCA extends an enormous “ merci ” to Susie, Janine, Kate and the entire Strauss&Co, team. We have truly appreciated your warm welcome, your spotless organisation of the morning and your precious input supported by your extensive expertise. You have allowed SAFFCA to efficiently continue the pursuits of its goals, here, at home, in the heart of Johannesburg. THANK YOU.
