The subject matter of my work is always drawn from ordinary life. Simple situations which unveil the kind of beauty I am looking for. No more than anyone else can I give a valid definition of beauty, and yet I think that it is the language of art. It may be amusing, elating, moving, frightening, uncomfortable, arousing, crude, mysterious ; it may even be convulsive, why not ? Always solidly anchored in reality. The beauty that results from that little step to the side by which one can see one’s own truth of things, and offer that peception to all.
