I had the privilege of spending my first residency with SAFFCA at Entabeni Urban Farm, where I was immersed in the stunning natural beauty of Knysna’s landscape. The breathtaking views of the Knysna Heads, lush rolling hills and Fynbos tapestries served as a constant source of inspiration. I was grateful to share this experience with my residency partner, Liz Vorster, whose unique artistic approach had a profound impact on my creative journey. Our hosts, Greg and Lizette, and the entire staff, created a warm and welcoming environment that fostered growth, creativity, and collaboration. The open studio event was a highlight of my residency, providing a valuable opportunity to showcase my work and engage with the local community.
I am grateful to Pierre and the SAFFCA team for this opportunity, which has helped me grow both as an artist and as a person. SAFFCA is dedicated to recognising and supporting young local artists, providing a platform for inspiration, growth, and connection. As I look forward to the next leg of my residency at Witklipfontein, I am excited to continue contributing to and growing with the SAFFCA community.
